For over fifteen years, Owner Arlen Dowdy has built a solid reputation as Boise's most trusted repair technician. Arlen Dowdy and his son John and the newest Technician to join the company, Bill are committed to providing quality service to the community. They believe that a reputation as honest and reliable service technicians is the recipe for success. While others seek to profit by cutting corners, or recommending unnecessary services to customers, Dowdy Heating and Cooling believe that a good reputation and consistent service will reap bigger profits in the long run. By being trustworthy, Dowdy Heating believe that they will enjoy a long term profitable business that serves the community.

Arlen grew up in Boise, helping his helping his Uncles in various construction projects. Arlen began apprenticing his uncles at the age of 12 and has developed a deep knowledge and understanding various construction trades.  At the age of 17 he joined the Navy and spent the next 22 years working on boilers. engines and ships heating systems and remodeling homes in his time off the ship.  He retired as a Master Chief (E-9) in 1995 and started working for local heating companies, both residential and commercial.  He specialized in residential service and installation.  He continued to increase his construction knowledge while serving in the Navy and he and his wife bought “fixer uppers” to remodel while they lived in them with their four growing children.  He has shared his unique insight and knowledge with his sons and now his grandson. John and James will carry on the tradition started in the Dowdy family many years ago.
